Where did Tracy’s smile go?
Why?
And when in the world is it coming back?
UPDATE: It's May 2024 and we are FINALLY at the point of inserting the appliances. Her early fundraising and the sale of her home in Creve Coeur helped fund the initial bone surgery, implants and consult appts. We are now gearing up to pay for the most expensive part - the actual TEETH!
In March of 2022, Tracy took a couple of BIG leaps of faith…
First, she left her position of 20+ years at WTVP to join her new work family at The Barn III Dinner Theatre and Event Center in Goodfield. A step that has brought much joy and happiness (although you might not be able to tell, since every picture she’s taken in her full-time position as Technical Director and Marketing Manager has been with a mask on!)
The second leap of faith was a full dental extraction - a procedure that was supposed to solve all the problems she had been battling for years with her teeth. This leap did not go as planned. After a botched procedure she was left with painful bone spurs and remaining bone remnants in her gums - all these issues extended the normal healing time and contributed to massive bone structure issues related to denture appliances. After three rounds of failed dentures, a year spent in a mask, gumming food to death and “smiling with her eyes”, Tracy has finally been referred to a specialist for implants as her bone structure no longer supports denture functioning.
The good news - TRACY WILL HAVE TEETH AGAIN!!!!
The bad news - insurance does not cover implant surgery and appliances…
After weeks of appointments with top-notch dental surgeons in our area, Tracy has learned that she is in a critical place and must act now if she’s going to have a chance at restoring her smile for the long haul. A year without teeth and the poor treatment she received at the time of extraction has caused major jaw deformation and now is her chance to capture what bone structure is left to secure 3-4 top implants and 2-3 bottom implants that will allow her to attach the removable implant prosthetics. The entire treatment takes 6 months to a year and costs $50,000 out of pocket - but if she’s able to begin the process now she could have a mask free smile again as soon as August or September of 2023!
To know Tracy, is to love Tracy…and if you KNOW her, you understand why we want her smile back so bad! Tracy’s Barn III family sees this as an opportunity to rally behind her in this moment and return the many blessings she’s bestowed on us in just a year of being on our full-time team. If Tracy has blessed you with her joy, laughter, kindness, encouragement, talent, creativity, humor, generosity (the list goes on and on) please consider giving what you can toward her smile. As the great Mother Theresa once said “Peace begins with a smile.” Tracy has brought peace to so many throughout her life - this is our chance to offer the same back!
