**Help Me Get the Hearing Aids I Desperately Need**

I’m reaching out for help with something I never thought I’d have to ask for—hearing aids. Over the years, I’ve struggled with hearing loss, and it’s only getting worse. I can no longer follow conversations without leaning in and asking people to repeat themselves over and over again. It’s incredibly frustrating, and it’s taking a toll on my social life and my well-being.

I went for a hearing test recently, and the results confirmed that I have severe hearing loss. The audiologist recommended the best hearing aids available, ones that would help me hear people clearly even in noisy environments, with directional hearing to focus on conversations in a crowd. These are the kind of hearing aids that can help me live normally again—but they come at a steep cost: $2,500 for both.

For context, I’ve had hearing aids in the past—top-of-the-line ones from 2006 that cost $6,900. But back then, they didn’t work for me; they just amplified everything and didn’t address my specific needs. I was lucky that my doctor worked with me and gave me the hearing aids after insurance had issues with coverage. Unfortunately, the technology has changed, and the options I need now are out of reach.

As you may know, I’ve been living here in Thailand for a while now. I moved here because I couldn’t afford to live in the US on my Social Security alone—the cost of living there is just too high. And I’m sure hearing aids would cost a lot more back in the States, so I’m hoping to make this work here.

I’ve always been someone who supports others in need, often donating anonymously without expecting recognition. I do it because I genuinely want to help my family and friends when they’re in a tough spot. Now, I’m in that position, and I’m asking for help. If you can donate whatever you can, it all helps.
