Hi, that's me. I'm Jana. I recently found out that I am in need of cataract surgery. I kept thinking I needed stronger glasses because it is like looking through a really dirty windshield all the time. Even with my reading glasses, I struggle to see the words on a page, street signs, even people's faces. A few months ago, my eyesight worsened quite suddenly, and now everything looks hazy, blurry, and hard to make out. I fear that it will get worse over time.

Cataracts, a clouding of the eye's lens, can lead to a range of vision problems, including blurry vision, difficulty seeing at night, and sensitivity to light. These vision changes can progress over time, potentially leading to significant vision loss and even blindness if left untreated. However, cataract surgery is a highly effective and common procedure to restore vision. I have all of these symptons.

Unfortunately, Medicare will only cover the basic cataract surgery, which means replacing the dirty lenses in my eyes with only the basic lenses. This will not do much for restoring my vision.

I need a fancier (better) surgery which is $3,000 per eye.

I live on disability because of my cancer status (currently in remission), so I have no means to pay for the surgery. I was relieved to learn that my poor vision is due to cataracts and not a side effect of my chemo treatment. But the cost is overwhelming to me.

The lenses used for this procedure are very technologically advanced and will give me my full vision back. These upgraded lenses will improve my near, mid-range, and far vision. It will also fix my astigmatism. It is the best possible outcome that I can dream of! If it turns out that I am able to get this surgery, it will significantly improve my quality of life.

I am not good at asking for help, but I am asking for it now.
