Bring Back Courtney’s Curls

Donation protected
Hello my name is Estelle, and since the end of August 2025 my big sisters hair has started to fall out.

My sister Courtney and I were born and raised in Croydon, and have worked hard towards our education and careers. Despite the hardships we have faced, our family has always supported us in our endeavours which has led to Courtney pursuing medicine and becoming a NHS Doctor. She is a currently an ST2 in community sexual and reproductive health, and spends the majority of her time helping and treating our local community in South London.

Courtney was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis in January 2024, coinciding with when she purchased her first flat on her own with her savings. Psoriatic arthritis causes pain, fatigue, and swelling of joints, so the rest of her savings have contributed to medical aids and accessibility to keep her at work.

Courtney has always found joy in taking care of her natural curls, as they are a huge part of our identities and makes us recognisable. Our curls reflect our Caribbean heritage and culture - since her hair has began to fall out, her self confidence has plummeted and anxiety increased tenfold. She has tried to make light of the situation as best she can, however it seems she has taken “you look like your dad” a tad too seriously.

In order to raise funds towards a medical wig, both myself and Courtney will be shaving our heads on Sunday 19th October. This will also help ease Courtney’s anxiety around the constant fallout of her hair. To support this we have began selling on Vinted too which you can access at @courtneytn. She is documenting her journey with alopecia on Instagram, at @bringcurlsback if you would like to follow her story.

We humbly ask for any amount that can support this fundraiser to help build my sisters confidence again and give back to someone who deserves it.
