Help Brittani Relearn to Walk and Reclaim Her Sunshine

If you’ve ever met Brittani Moon, you know she’s pure light in human form. She’s the kind of person who can walk into any room and instantly make it brighter. Her laughter is contagious, her energy magnetic, and her free-spirited soul has carried her across the continental U.S. on spontaneous adventures. She’s danced under open skies, swum in every body of water she could find, and lived life fully — always on her own colorful terms.

But just a few days ago, that light dimmed in a way none of us could have imagined.

While on a beach vacation with her mom, Brittani started to feel her legs go numb. At first, it came and went. Then one morning, she woke up — and couldn’t move her legs at all.

After rushing to the hospital, doctors discovered a slipped disc in her spine that had caused significant pressure and fluid buildup around her spinal cord. In addition to that, they found she has an autoimmune disease — one that’s causing her body to attack itself and “lock in,” making the healing process even more complex. Possibly even causing permanent damage.

Surgeons have successfully removed the damaged disc and relieved the immediate pressure, but Brittani now faces a long road of treatment and physical therapy to relearn how to walk and regain her strength.

For someone who has always been in motion, this has been unimaginably hard. But if you know Brittani, you know her strength and resilience are unmatched.

Unfortunately, her medical bills are mounting quickly — from emergency surgery and hospital stays to ongoing medications and the rehabilitation she’ll need to recover movement in her legs. She’s only 29 and could never have prepared for something like this.
