My name is Nick and I am raising money for my brother's cancer treatment and associated medical bills. My brother Brian is a career bartender and has been in constant pain since October. Since the start of the year he has been getting poked, prodded and scanned and has finally been diagnosed with Stage IV Metastatic Prostate Cancer. Just this week, Feb. 23rd, he was finally able to start treatment and now the healing journey begins.
If you are a lover of craft beer, disc golf, snowboarding (although he swears he's a surfer at heart), a busted old Jeep or good music and reside around Las Vegas you probably know Brian. He's a fixture on the disc golf courses, getting his round in before the heat of the day settles in. In the winter you've seen him flying through the air on a snowboard at Lee Canyon while his Pit and Pointer run up and down the slopes after him. If you've had a beer or your thousandth beer at Tenaya Creek Brewing then chances are Brian poured it for you with a smile on his face and if the boys are in town you know you'll always find him at the Widespread Panic show, havin' a good time!
Brian is a friend to everyone and anyone and if you've met him you probably remember your first encounter, a big sly smile framed by old dreads and a "Whaaat's up?" Always ready to help, to share, to say a kind word or maybe even to take the heat when you messed up.
Right now that smile is hard to come by. For the last five or six months Brian has been waking up in pain every day unable to do those things he loves and lives for but each day he gets up, tries to affix the signature smile and make it through another shift at work or another day of doctors, insurance and phone calls. Savings are tight, cancer treatment is expensive and I'm pretty sure dealing with insurance companies is one of Dante's levels of hell.
If Brian ever put a smile on your face, made you laugh, flung a disc with you, shared a beer, danced his ass off next to you at a concert or if you happen to be a generous stranger please consider donating and help us put that smile back where it belongs.
