PEDIATRIC HUMANITARIAN AID STRANDED IN GAZA
Bring Auntie Ramona Home
Ramona Okumura is our Auntie — aka the backbone of our entire family, the one who organizes gatherings, puts in the manapua order, makes sure all the cousins get birthday greetings. She is the heart of our family.
She’s also the kindest, bravest soul I have ever met. She is a force of nature.
She has dedicated her life to helping children regain the ability to walk, run and play by handcrafting them prosthetic limbs.
At the University of Washington she was a lecturer for 27 years, and is an expert in her field, training countless students to help children and veterans regain the ability to move independently after traumatic accidents or in this case, wartime violence on children.
In 2018, upon retirement her unwavering compassion and belief that all children deserve quality of life and the ability to play and move freely is what led her to become a humanitarian aid worker as a prosthetics expert abroad to help the children of Gaza with the Palestinian Children’s Relief Fund.
Many of them have experienced violence that has left traumatic wounds to their growing bodies. These wounds require ongoing care and expert orthotic rehabilitation in order to restore quality of life.
As of last week, the conflict in Gaza has escalated to an unprecedented level of violence and we need to get Auntie Ramona home safely.

It has been brought to our attention that the PCRF would cover the cost of evacuation. Any donations via this site will go directly to PCRF.
