Help Us Bring Auntie Laurie Home to Rest in Hilo, Hawaii

Our beloved Auntie Laurie Cordova passed away peacefully at her home in Alaska, surrounded by family, on March 27, 2025. Our hearts are heavy, but we find comfort in knowing she was held close by loved ones in her final moments.
We’re raising funds to help bring Auntie Laurie back to her hometown of Hilo, Hawaii, so she can be laid to rest on her sacred land—her true home. My Uncle Pat met Auntie Laurie while he was living in Hawaii for many years, and it’s where their beautiful love story began. They eventually married and built a life rooted in love, family, and aloha.
Auntie Laurie was more than just family—she was a devoted wife, a loving daughter-in-law who cared for our Grandma Dorothy for decades, and the most selfless person we’ve ever known. She always put others first, and her kindness touched everyone around her.
Some of my favorite childhood memories are with her—riding the bus in Long Beach with my cousin Celina just to get Mrs. Fields cookies and walk around the Lakewood Mall. She was the “cool aunt” who let us get away with almost anything and made ordinary moments feel magical. I’ll always cherish those times with her and hold them close to my heart.
After Uncle Pat passed away in 2016, Auntie Laurie moved to Alaska and built a warm, loving home for her children and grandchildren. She had plans to visit us in California this summer, and we were all looking forward to being with her again.
As we mourn her loss, our deepest wish is to bring her back home to Hilo, where she belongs. Any contribution—big or small—will help make that possible. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your love and support during this difficult time.
With love and gratitude,
