If you know me, you may have noticed my absence lately. It’s not because I’m busy getting on with life, it’s because my life has stopped. (& not just because of Covid!)

I’m trapped in a never ending hell of chronic pain that means I can barely function & only manage to leave the house if I’m pumped full of potent & addictive painkillers.

 

Lockdown has been so tough for everyone so it's selfish to draw your attention to my own suffering, but I’m in desperate need of help.

 

In 2019 I became incredibly mentally unwell living in a (beautiful) mouldy basement. From there my life fell apart. The mycotoxins messed up my hormones, among other things & I eventually lost the ability to eat, to read.. didn’t know who I was, stuck in a state of fight or flight.

 

Diagnosed as peri-menopausal just before the first lockdown, I moved out of the flat & started HRT. Things were meant to get better but they just changed. Gradually I physically fell apart. Where once I was the busy bee, the go getter, the one who made every second count, I am now stuck on the sofa in agony just waiting for the day to end.. & not knowing if things will ever improve. Talk about Lockdown Limbo.

 

15 months on, I’ve finally discovered that it's likely I have endometriosis. Mycotoxins & peri-menopause triggering it & now oestrogen in my HRT feeding it. I wake up in excruciating pain, which just gets worse & worse throughout the day. I’m completely incapacitated & can regularly barely feed myself. Constantly exhausted & not really able to think. 

 

Finally having endo suggested, I had a consultation with a top endometriosis consultant Mr Mabrouk who wants to perform a laparoscopy. This operation diagnoses endo, & removes it. Although this is not a cure, it will give me some quality of life back. 

 

In an ideal world, the NHS wouldn't be underfunded, I would have got the help I needed sooner & would be able to do this through them. Sadly though their wait time is 1 to 2 years whereas Mr Mabrouk can hopefully squeeze me in within the next couple of months.

 

If you are living a life, enjoying things starting to go back to 'normal.' If I have ever touched your life in a positive way, or if you know what it is like to exist (or not exist) in chronic pain, physically or mentally (as this is certainly causing both!) then please would you consider helping me out?

Even if you can’t donate anything I would really appreciate you sharing this with anyone you think could.

 

To have my life back.. or at least some of it, would be AMAZING. I know it's presumptuous of me, but after months of not being myself, I realise I wasn’t such a bad egg. Hopefully I can give back to the world enough for this request not to be entirely mercenary.

 

This operation will not solve everything, but it should mean that the chronic disease I was living with prior to HRT will once again become manageable & I'll be able to gradually regain some quality of life & independence.

The operation itself costs £3880 but the overall cost is much more given the Go Fund Me fees, pre op & post op care, & my current tremendously expensive treatment for mould illness (& MCAS for those who may have heard of it).
