Hi Friends,

My name is Amann Woldeghebriel and I created this Gofundme account to support my one-of-a-kind chance to attend an 8 week photography concentration at Penland School of Craft. I was awarded a partial scholarship for the spring concentration, however, I am still short of tuition and fees required to secure my spot on campus. I am seeking your support with the remaining tuition for the Spring concentration at Penland.

This year´s photography concentration will be taught by Mercedes Jelinek, whose work I´ve followed for many years. I had an opportunity to join Mercedes´ spring concentration two years ago but I was not able to attend then due to the onset of the pandemic in 2020 and financial barriers. This is a second chance for me to join her photography class and build towards my ultimate goals as a filmmaker.

The purpose of this photography course is to serve as a stepping stone towards my decade-long plan to attend film school. This course will introduce me to fundamental photography skills that will strengthen my overall portfolio and applications for school. This comprehensive course with Mercedes Jelinek at Penland will be a huge benefit. Course Description:

Mercedes Jelinek- Processing Process

This workshop will take students on a journey through analog, digital, and hybrid photographic processes. We’ll cover large-format camera use, film development, and traditional darkroom printing. We’ll also scan film, shoot digitally, and use these files to make archival inkjet prints. From there, we’ll learn to further manipulate our photographs through collage and alternative photographic processes. This workshop will also cover basic and advanced shooting techniques, composition, framing, digital workflow, archiving, digital editing (with Lightroom or Photoshop), and more. All levels.
