Hey. I'm Alexis. Originally from St. Louis, MO, currently living in Savannah, GA — and trying to come home at least for a little while.
I moved to attend graduate film school at Savannah College of Art & Design. I graduated this past March with a Master of Arts in Film & Television. But getting back on my feet has been has hard and slippery, nothing going to plan. And I started getting homesick for my older parents and seriously consider moving back home to be with family and regroup. The goal wasn't necessarily to move back home, but to Atlanta which is closer to Savannah, cheaper to move to, and also with family in town.
Before I had a chance to discuss it with my parents fully, my dearest father passed away very unexpectedly on Sept 26, 2025 from a massive stroke.
I am utterly devastated, experiencing more various layers of grief to my life than before, and at the end of my rope. And I definitively want to go home now. My Daddy won't be there, but I'll be closer to the gaping hole and remnants of what's left of him at home. But the cost is steep.
What my relocation expenses from Savannah to St. Louis would include:
- My household belongings (1–2 bedroom, long distance moving through PODS): $2,000 – $4,500
- Packing supplies, platform fees, and buffer: $250 - $500
- Repairs to my old vehicle so that I can make the drive back safely (brakes, fuses, sensors, and gas/petrol for the drive): $250 - $800
- Reasonably priced, reputable movers who can handle both the household move and insured auto transport
