A three-part artistic work combining book, installation, and techno opera
_INTRODUCTION
Hi, I’m Lou JP Mußgnug, a media artist from Stuttgart, currently studying with Prof. Julian Rosefeldt at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich.
_THE PROJECT
A CADEmIA is my diploma project.
It is a multimedia artistic work about lived experience, trauma, reintegration, and embodied memory — translated into visual, spatial, and sonic language.
It is not just a project, but an artistic alchemy of life, transformation, and memory.
_PAST
In February 2021, my life took a sudden and devastating turn.
I was detained at São Paulo airport on Valentine’s Day.
What followed were months of isolation and confrontation with systems far larger than myself — experiences that fundamentally changed my artistic practice and my being.
_PRESENT
Since returning to Germany in December 2024, I have been working daily to transform these experiences into artistic form.
This is A CADEmIA — a multimedia work in three parts that maps past, present and future through visual, spatial, and sonic language:
Part I: The Book “A CADEmIA”
The book forms a triptych: PAST, PRESENT, FUTURE.
It reflects confinement, reintegration, and possibility — revealing transformation without exposing everything.
Part II: The “Prisonball” Installation
A walk-in geodesic LED sculpture (2 m diameter).
Red data clouds react to movement, visualizing surveillance, memory, and presence.
The flexible LED mesh, sensors and coding form the physical and conceptual skin of the work.
This piece is engineered with wood, sensors, and flexible LED mesh panels — the most costly part of the build. Your support here is literally building the skin of this living artwork.
Part III: Brazilian Techno Opera
A collaborative performance with baritone Jakob Schad, countertenor Nils Wanderer, and sound designer Jonathan Freund.
A hybrid of techno, rhythm, and vocal theater.
Premiere planned: 5 February 2026.
_WHY I NEED YOUR SUPPORT
This project is created independently, without institutional funding.
Your support directly enables its realization.
_HERE'S HOW EVERY EURO WILL BE USED
• Flexible LED mesh, sensors & coding – €10,000
• Book production – €2,000
• Opera & artistic team – €3,000
Goal: € 15,000
You are not just funding materials — you are helping create a shared artistic language for transformation.
Thank you for listening, sharing, and standing with this project.
With all my heart,
Lou JP Mußgnug
