Abby Fuehrer’s medical fund

Abby Fuehrer has been in Cambodia on a mission trip since December 7th. While in Cambodia she had been battling some health challenges, all of which seemed unrelated. On January 28th she was taken to the hospital because she had vomited blood.

At the hospital, they confirmed a bleeding ulcer and low platelets (44,000). The combination of the ulcer, stomach bleeding, and dangerously low platelet count prompted the doctors to do a CT scan. Unfortunately, this scan revealed that Abby had several lesions in her abdomen, lungs, and bones. Without a biopsy, it cannot be determined, but the doctor's primary theory is lymphoma. A biopsy in Cambodia is too dangerous because of the risk of bleeding. Because if this it became a top priority to work with insurance to get her to a facility that can continue to diagnose and provide higher-level services with access to experts and teams equipped to do so.

This means that Abby is confirmed for a Medical evacuation flight to Bangkok. Once there many more tests will be run, a biopsy will be taken, and work will begin to get her stable enough to fly back to the US. There is much that is still unknown about how the next few hours and days will unfold, but we do know it is still a very delicate and urgent situation.

Katie Fuehrer (Abby’s mom) was able to get an emergency passport and will be flying to be with Abby in Phnom Penh and then accompany her on to Bangkok. They were able to consult with an American doctor who lives in the city. She affirmed that the local doctors are correct in their conclusions and agrees the next step is to urgently airlift her to a different hospital in Thailand.

Our first request is that you pray. Pray for God’s healing touch in Abby’s body and that God would receive glory from this. Also, pray for Katie as she travels to be with Abby. Pray for Trent (Abby’s dad) and Emily and Ethan (Abby’s sister and brother) as they are home in Yakima far away from Abby while all this is taking place.

There have already been so many miracles and victories at this point, and we can see God’s hand in this. He’s been so near even through these devastating circumstances. We need continued peace and patience as this all unfolds. We will know more soon and will update you when possible.

There are still known and unknown hurdles in front of Abby, and one of those is financial. This page is to help raise funds for the family to cover expenses already incurred and to help them prepare for the continued costs that will come their way. This will help cover everything from travel, hospital costs, accommodations for Katie while with Abby, insurance premiums, and more.

Abby’s had a song stuck in her head for a couple of days called ‘Speak Your Name’ by Laney Rene, and it was clear from Abby's prayer that she trusts God and knows his faithfulness and goodness go beyond circumstances.

Thank you for joining us in prayer, standing on behalf of Abby, and for considering a donation for the family in this unthinkable time.
