Hi everyone!
My name is Elaine Kline. I am a London-based American actor/singer, director, and theatre-maker originally from Boston, MA. I earned my MFA in Acting from East 15 Acting School in 2024, and have been living and working in the UK since!
Over the past several months, I have been writing and developing a one-woman show. It is now nearly ready to be seen by audiences, and I need your help to bring it to stages across the UK and the US!
The show is confirmed for a run at the Scarborough Fringe (13th-14th June @5:30pm, Scarborough Library- Small Room), and at Camden Fringe (14th August @9:00pm, 17th August @7:00pm, Rosemary Branch Theatre). I am also applying to other festivals, and looking into other performance opportunities.
What is A FULL PLATE about?
A FULL PLATE is an autobiographical piece, where I talk about my journey with mental illness from childhood to present day: the highs, lows, and everything in between. The show utilizes multimedia and comedy to aid in telling the story.
This show, and all aspects of it, are being undertaken and funded solely by myself.
Why this story now?
We hear so often about mental health issues and treatment in adults, from the perspective of adults. We don’t often talk about it from the perspective of children and teens. It happens. It’s hard, scary and often, it is something you carry and struggle with for the rest of your life. Mental illnesses are also still so stigmatized and generalized, and if I can educate a single person on how varied and nuanced diagnoses like anxiety and OCD are, then I will feel that the piece has served its purpose.
What will my donation go towards?
All funds raised in this fundraiser will go towards the following production costs:
- Venue hire and associated costs.
- Travel costs for performances outside of London.
- Hiring and paying tech operators and directing/creative consultants.
- Marketing (i.e. flyers, posters).
- Any unexpected costs that may arise.
As I continue on this journey with the show, I will share updates and additional performance dates on this fundraising page as well as online via my social media.
