Emily Brinegar's Scoliosis Fund
Emily is 14 and a freshman in high school. She loves basketball. She plays piano, loves the outdoors, fishing & hunting, and hanging out with friends. She's also won many awards in 4-H Dog Agility Training.
We found out Emily has scoliosis a little over a year ago. We have been doing nonsurgical treatment for the last year with some signs of improvement, but this last visit the curve had progressed over 15 degrees since this summer. Emily now has a 69 degree thoracic curve, or idiopathic scoliosis. It is not the news we wanted, but God has been sustaining us through this horribly scary journey.
Her curve has gotten worse and surgery is now our only option. We are pursuing Vertebray surgery with surgeons in NY. Surgery will keep her flexible so she can live her life more normally.
Medical bills and travel costs will be a huge concern as we will be traveling to New York, from Wyoming, for doctor visits and surgery.
We will know more after our appointment with them this month.
Please keep Emily in your prayers. We love how strong Emily has been through all of this. She is determined not to let this get her down. She also believes that this is happening to her so that she can help others some day.
If you feel more comfortable donating with a check, please email us for the information.
