Brigitte Cody's Cancer Treatment and Recovery

Dear friends and supporters,

My name is Serene, I am a close friend of Brigitte and Jake Cody. I’m reaching out to the extensive network that Jake and Brigitte have built over the years to seek support as Brigitte courageously battles cancer. Just before Christmas, Brigitte received the news that she has a carcinoid tumor in her left lung. Carcinoid tumors are rare forms of cancer, and Brigitte will need to undergo surgery to have her left lung removed. Following this lung resection, she will face a challenging and lengthy recovery as she learns to adapt to life with one lung.

Brigitte and Jake are the proud parents of three young daughters: Julia, Josie, and Amelia. The Cody family exemplifies resilience and tenacity, thriving despite the challenges posed by Jake’s spinal cord injury and mobility impairment. Together, they embrace life with adventure, optimism, and a wonderful sense of humor.

Last summer I ran into an old friend who also knows Brigitte. She described Brigitte as a “salt of the earth” person—a description that has resonated with me ever since. It perfectly encapsulates Brigitte’s essence: she is kind, trustworthy, and sensible. Conversations with her bring a sense of comfort and ease to both body and mind. Brigitte is always thinking of others and finds the goodness in everyone.

The funds raised will be crucial in alleviating the financial burdens associated with lost income, medical appointments, childcare, home care, and travel costs. This support will enable Brigitte and Jake to concentrate on her recovery and their family, free from the additional stress of financial strain during this incredibly challenging time.
