BRIGHTON REINHARDT
Donation protected
Brighton was born with a are bone disorder called Congenital Pseudo Arthrosis (Congenital pseudarthrosis of the tibia (CPT) is a rare pathology, which is usually associated with neurofibromatosis type I. The natural history of the disease is extremely unfavorable and once a fracture occurs, there is a little or no tendency for the lesion to heal spontaneously)
He has had over 17 surgeries to both save his leg, restore his leg and maintain his leg. The first one at 6 months old! He has been blessed with being able to compete in surfing and other sports throughout his life not letting this effect him. However, at times its just the process and he has no say.
Unbeknownst to Brighton and others, his leg has been broken without healing for the past 9 months. He went in 6 months ago for a pretty routine rod replacement and the rod now is migrating into the joint area of his ankle but more importably his leg will not heal (Pseudo Arthosis). His amazing doctor, Dr. Dror Paley located in West Palm Beach, is asking Brighten to go through a pretty extensive surgery (6 to 8 hours) in own order to effectively heal his bone with a 2 to 3 month recovery time.
Today, all day in the hospital, Brighton will be administered a drug called; Zometa. This drug has numerous side effects while completely stripping him of his white blood cells. The drug is typically given to cancer patients and they found that it also re grows bone (for the most part). So by doing this 4 days prior to surgery (Monday), the Dr. will do a bone graft from Brighton's hip and apply it to his shin bone, the effected area. He will also be placing a new rod through the center of the leg (shine bone) and pinning it in place at two spots not allowing for it to move. The pain is real, the surgery no joke. The outcome is promising. Mainly, the bone would have complete union and not be susceptible to breaking again.
The number one thing Brighton needs is prayer.
"The steadfast love of the LORD never Ceases: His mercies never come to and end; They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness". Lam. 3:22-23.
Brighton, as many of you know has been working on his music career and almost ready to release his first single. He is self funding all of that and so now at 21 this new grown up life filled with expenses has hit him smack in the face. He is covered by insurance which is great and so this campaign is to help him with the extra cost of travel and stay. What was to be a 2.5 day trip is now a 7 to 10 day trip. Any donation of any size will be appreciated and again, a prayer is worth more than any dollar and the Lord will see him through this.
Lastly, Brighton has no idea we are doing this for him as he rarely ask for anything. I know after this his heart will be filled and he will see the blessings of the Lord. Let's "BRIGHTEN" his day. Thank you so much!!!
