This is a fundraiser for us to donate to support striking ambulance service colleagues in the Brighton OU on 21st December 2022, 11th January 2023 and beyond!

We are striking against:

Poor pay - that has been consistently below inflation for over a decade making our staff poorer and struggling to make ends meet.

A failing NHS - where wait times for ambulances are at an all-time high. We are on the front line but feel helpless to keep people safe that need our care quickly.

Understaffing - without fair pay we cannot recruit and retain the staff we need to deliver a safe and efficient service.

The strike dates are close to Christmas when any loss will severely impact our lowest-paid. Although there is a hardship fund for GMB members choosing to strike, there are those that will still be facing a considerable loss of earnings, especially if they are due to work both days.

The money will be used to help alleviate the loss of pay from striking on these days and will be distributed entirely and fairly to those in the most need.

It is expected that the majority of funds will go to colleagues on band 3 however all GMB members striking will be eligible to request help. Any funds remaining after hardship reimbursement will be retained to support staff during the next planned strike.

In the event that the government steps in to resolve the industrial action and no further strikes are mandated, any remaining funds will be distributed to staff from the lowest paid upwards to help ease the burden of the cost of living crisis.
