Recently, I was invited to speak about my mental health journey at a multinational company on World Mental Health Day. I felt honoured by the request and it gave me hope that things are slowly starting to shift.

I also felt something else deep in my belly — a body memory. I was taken back to my latter years in corporate London, after the 2008 credit crunch — carrying enormous pressure while trying to protect my team. That company has since gone under and I recently discovered that many others were also quietly struggling at the time. It wasn’t just me. The system itself was unsustainable.

Speaking about mental health is still taboo in many workplaces. Not talking about it is like ignoring the fart in the room — everyone knows it’s there, everyone’s affected, but we pretend to be fine.

Silence allows problems to continue, to grow and to ripple out into relationships, families, communities, economies, even countries.

If speaking up is “career-limiting,” that’s not a career I want.

Today, I choose differently. I prioritise wellbeing and create safe spaces where people can explore, heal, and grow without judgment.

I’m deeply grateful to share that, thanks to those who supported my Brighter Days fundraising in July, I have been able to offer a 100% scholarship to a promising young recipient for six online coaching sessions — someone who otherwise wouldn’t have had access.
