On Friday, April 5th, Lance and Chloe’s 8 mo old son Bo, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). He had been dealing with a cold and ear infection over the last few weeks but there wasn’t any indication it was anything more serious. Late Friday afternoon they took him in to their pediatrician because Bo was having a reaction to the new antibiotic he was prescribed for his ear infection, and the doctor recommended they come in to Randall Children’s Hospital to get a larger blood panel to make sure nothing else was going on.
They arrived at Randall’s around 7:30pm and by 9:45pm received the diagnosis. They were moved to the PICU by 11:30pm where they met Bo’s oncologist who was called in from home. Bo began treatments, including his first dose of chemo, just a few hours later because his white blood cell count was extremely high.
Bo’s first 48 hours at the hospital included many blood draws, a chest x-ray, an echocardiogram, and being being put under anesthesia on two separate occasions for a spinal tap, bone marrow biopsy, brain MRI, ultrasound, and multiple attempts to install a picc line for administering chemo. He has been such a trooper.
In the midst of this they have already seen so many answered prayers including the fact that many of the results and diagnoses they have received have been better than some of the possible outcomes. Bo has been responding largely as planned and hoped from all treatments so far.

We have felt SO held and cared for by God through the Body of Christ. We have hundreds of people literally around the world praying for our family and we have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support. While this is devastating, it is also humbling to get to be a part of the larger work God is doing in bringing himself glory through our precious Bo. We are so grateful for bold and expectant prayers that are being brought to God’s ears from our brothers and sisters in Christ. Without each one of you, we would have crumbled under the weight of this suffering. But because of you, we are able to be sustained day by day, hour by hour, as we wait to see God do amazing things only He can.
