Brigan's Tiny House
Donation protected
Hello everyone. For those of you that may not know me, I am Arden Lusignan and I am Brigan's sister. I am reaching out to you because I need to raise funds for her to be able to complete the build on her tiny house/artist studio. This is something she has been dreaming about and working hard to achieve...to be able to live and work in an affordable way with a home studio.
Like so many artists, it can be incredibly difficult to follow your passion while also making enough to survive. Brigan has done this in her life, exhibiting at many galleries, coffee houses, and museums in Florida. She has also had several major shows at Walker Fine Art in Denver Colorado, and you can view some of her pieces that are available to purchase and read her Artist Statement and Resume here: http://www.walkerfineart.com/brigangresh. Buying a piece of her art is also another way to support this dream.
Creating art is her passion, but it does not pay the bills consistently.
A little over a year ago those bills and the reality of life, required her to get a 9-5 job. She accepted a position at a hair salon in Orlando managing a team of 40. When Covid hit, and businesses closed down, the salon Brigan was managing had to close too. Many of the employees went on unemployment. It took weeks for many of them, including Brigan, to get their first check and compensation has been sporadic and inconsistent. When things started slowly opening back up some of those employees went back to the salon, and others stayed on unemployment. With Covid-19 continuing, Brigan will not be able to return to work because of health issues that compromise her immune system.
At the end of June, Brigan found out that she needed to move out of the house she has been renting. With some help she was able to secure funds for a tiny house, and it was just delivered on the 26th. The tiny house is a basic model and is completed inside and out as far as the necessities go...water, electric, insulation, lighting, a ceiling fan, and walls. Brigan will need to complete everything else. There was a long list of items that were needed when I initially created this fundraiser two weeks ago. Many of those items have been purchased with the funds we raised, or were donated by family and friends. What is still needed are shelves, interior lighting, a refrigerator, bathroom vanity, exterior paint, exterior steps, added storage, etc. She also has to pay for tags, insurance, and to certify and register the tiny house.
I created a private group fundraiser initially on FB and included this link within the group. The support from this small group of 50 people has been amazing, but a larger audience is needed to raise additional funds to complete the house. Even though I know that Brigan might feel like she does not deserve a GoFundMe page, when so many people are in need and struggling, I know that she does. So I am reaching out to friends and family, and even people we may not know, to see if we can meet the goal of this fundraiser and even surpass it. I know this is a tough time for everyone, but if we all give a little it will add up to a lot.
Thanks so much for taking a moment to read this, and for making a donation if you are able to. I can assure you that you are making a massive difference in her life.
With gratitude,
Arden
