At just 57 years old Briggite was diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer. A single mother of 2, she has dedicated her whole life to being the best mom, and doing the most she could for any and everyone. The only girl in a family with 3 brothers (2 of which were also recently diagnosed with different cancers). She has always been the care taker, go to, and matriarch of the family. Acting as caretaker to her paraplegic brother, taking on the role of mother and father to her now 2 adult children, and supportive friend to all those who are lucky enough to know her. She loves her kids, family, friends, food, water activities, animals, horse movies, and any motivational movie ever made.

On March 29th 2019 she received her diagnosis and faced the scary possibility that her time enjoying life and all the things she loved may end much sooner than anyone ever expected. After repeated visits to the doctors, tests and an ER visit, Briggitte was finally given an answer to the cause of her symptoms. Unfortunately, it wasn’t indigestion, acid reflux, dietary intolerance or allergies as doctors had previously suggested. It was Cancer. Stage 4. At that point her tumor had advanced so much that she could no longer eat and was barely even able to drink.

After receiving no hope from her current doctors Briggitte and her family sought a second opinion, researched alternative options and fought for a referral to get her the best possible care before starting her treatment. Unfortunately they were met with an obsticle at every corner. Her insurance provider denied her referral for alternate care, appointments for alternative treatments were too far out. With time seemingly against her, she was forced to start the palliative course of treatment that her current doctors had assigned to her. Yet, true to her spirit and faith, she remained hopeful.

On April 8th after 2 months of being unable to eat Briggitte was finally given some relief. Although she could still no longer eat, her doctors finally agreed to act on the persistent requests of her and her daughter to provide her with a feeding tube. Insistent that she could not possibly maintain enough energy to survive her cancer let alone Chemo without any nutrients or fluids in her system.

On April 9th the fight began! Briggitte started her first round of 3 chemo treatments.

On May 16th Briggitte received the devastating news that her treatment had been unsuccessful. The cancer had continued to grow. Yet, she remained hopeful.

On May 17th Briggitte received an answer to our prayers.
She had a consultation with a Doctor who specializes in customized treatment plans. He conducts his chemo sensitivity tests outside of your body through his functional analysis of your individual cancer cells to see how they respond to the drugs before putting them in to the body. As a result he is able to treat his patients with a regimen that exposes them to the least amount of toxins and provides them the most significant results possible. This is where we need your help. In order to prescribe Briggitte the best possible treatment, she needs a surgical biopsy. Her current insurance will not cover it.

If it’s not impossible, it’s possible! True to her positive sprit and enduring faith, Briggitte and her family still believe this! She has finally found a doctor who is willing to help her in the fight. If you are able we ask that you join the fight too. Any and all contributions are appreciated and 100% of them will go to her biopsy and ongoing care and treatment. Thank you in advance for your contribution and compassion.
