Hi, We are Brieanna's parents - Shelby, Eric and Corrie - and we are putting together this fundraiser to help Brieanna pay her bills while she tries to heal from this crazy thing happening after her gallbladder surgery.

Here's her story -

Brieanna is never one to ask for help. She’s always there to help everyone else in any way possible, but the time has come for her to need some assistance from all of us. Back in July, she had been having consistent abdominal pain, to the point where she left work early and went to the Emergency Room in Great Falls for help. After running multiple tests, they finally determined that she needed emergency Gallbladder surgery. The surgery went as expected, recovery was somewhat normal, but the healing was not. She ended up with what they thought was a bad reaction to the iodine used during surgery. Following several weeks of “lets wait another week and see”, the care team finally decided to remove the dead tissue and close up the wound which has been causing such pain and suffering for so long.

Oh, and during the initial recovery, she lost her job because she didn’t have any sick time or vacation time available, and hadn’t been there long enough to qualify for any FMLA or long term sick leave. Anyways, once again, back in the Operating Room for another surgery. This time, healing looked like it was going to be a success and she would be able to start looking for work, but alas, luck was once again not on her side. She began to develop yet another small opening which appeared similar to the first round – more dead tissue, and still not working, yet the bills continue to pile up. After returning yet again to the wound specialist and her original surgeon, she was referred to a Plastic Surgeon, which wouldn’t be able to see her until mid to late October. Meanwhile, the wound continued to grow and more pain followed, now spreading to other areas near the wound.

As parents, we decided to bring her back to WA and took her to Harborview Medical Center for a second opinion. She has been there since Monday morning. There is still some uncertainty of what the issue actually is with her healing and what the next steps will be, but the fact still remains, bills are piling up, and she still isn’t working, nor will she be able to for the foreseeable future.
