Brie the dog’s ear surgery

My name is Bart and I have a sweet, mixed breed eight-year-old girl with some serious ear problems that will require surgery to fix.

These issues are thought to be onset from allergies, perhaps from a flea bite when I lived out in the country and she had much room to roam. The allergy is causing chronic inflammation. Recently, both ears have gotten worse, but one has two mass growths on it, which are not reversible and would have to be surgically removed.

This requires a specialist which I cannot afford. I’m a single dad with three kids and I’m doing what I can, daily, to provide for my family, including my sweet Brie. But this expense is way beyond anything I can afford. She also has endocrine issues, causing her to go bald in places. This may or may not be related to chronic inflammation. But I will never be able to find out unless I can raise these funds.

A very nice vet suggested a GoFundMe campaign which I had never considered, because I really have no support network and asking for money is a little foreign to me. So, while I am here, asking for help from total strangers, I want you to know that I would forever be in your debt if you can contribute. I know times are tight, but I want to exhaust every possibility to ensure her a happy life.

My sweet girl doesn’t deserve to be so miserable. It’s incredibly itchy and she’s scratched at it until it’s bled, more than once. I'd post pictures, but it's very gruesome. Now, she’s starting to lose motor control and just slipped and fell while walking a few minutes ago. That’s why I’m asking for help now. The money is being used for vet bills, medicine and diagnostic testing to determine if surgery is even viable.

But, surgery on both ears is very expensive, so this fundraiser will be ongoing as long as a chance to save her exists. I feel horrible about being in this position, asking strangers, friends and family for funds I don’t have, But the response so far has been so overwhelmingly positive it’s touching my heart and helping me plan for the best.
