My wife Bridgette was making all the food for the 4th of July, and a friend dropped by to bring some potato salad. So, she went out to get it. She turned and twisted the wrong way and fell down off the steps.
There was no handrail to grab, so she fell about 5 feet to the concrete, landing on her left hand. Her left wrist was broken in several places.
She just retired this year, but it’s too early to receive Medicare, and we have no insurance.
When I first met my wife, I was not doing so well, and she picked me up and started to fix my life. Together, we became whole.
She helped me take care of my mother for 7 years while she declined into dementia. It was a very difficult time, but Bridgette stood strong with me and helped our family through it all.
Then, after that, she brought her mother, her older sister, and her younger brother here to Idaho to help get them in a better place. Her younger brother is disabled, and to this day, she is his caregiver—11 years now.
Her mom was on hospice and very sick, but Bridgette helped her mother live a more comfortable life before she passed, bringing all of the family around for her mother to enjoy in her last years.
Bridgette has always been a giver. She would give her last dollar and find a way to help anyone, even if it meant struggling herself.
For the most part, she just worked hard, and we made it through tough times together.
This was a devastating situation because she can’t really go back to work until she heals.
The emergency surgery was something we couldn’t avoid because of how badly her bones were shattered. I’m on social security and work part-time, so I’m unable to pay this hospital bill.
It’s a sad thing that when you get hurt, it’s impossible to make payments or just deal with it however you can.
Thank you for your love and support.
Sincerely, Kevin Sorrels
