I have a truly wonderful opportunity this summer to participate in the Opera Steamboat 2018 Opera Artist Institute in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. While there I will perform the role of the Fox in Leos Janacek's The Cunning Little Vixen fully staged with orchestra, sing on the institute's opera arias & scenes concert, and perform in master classes with top industry professionals.
For those who do not know me personally, I am a Chicago-based classical singer who sings opera, curates art song recitals, and teaches yoga. Critics have noted the way I "light up the scene" onstage (Chicago Reader), and my "dynamic singing" (Schmopera) was named as a musical highlight of Chicago Fringe Opera's world premiere production of The Great God Pan in March. A native of Texas, I graduated from Oklahoma City University's Wanda L. Bass School of Music in 2012 and moved to Chicago to pursue a career in classical singing. Since then, I have been a young artist with Opera Theater of Pittsburgh (Charlotte/A Little Night Music, Darlène/Night Caps International), toured Europe with Blue Lake International Symphony (soloist, Anton Bruckner's Te Deum), and co-founded the Chicago-based vocal chamber quartet Fourth Coast Ensemble. The ability to join Opera Steamboat this summer and perform the role of the Fox in The Cunning Little Vixen will provide me invaluable performance training, broaden my net of professional contacts, and give me new momentum as an emerging professional artist.
I was offered a scholarship from Opera Steamboat, for which I am so honored. However, the program still costs more than I would be able to afford on my own. Below you can see the costs of the opera institute and associated costs that I still need to pay. Your generosity and gifts will go toward:
$2,000 - program cost of the Opera Artist Institute
$500 - transportation to get to and around Colorado
Anything that you can donate helps me get one step closer to this wonderful career opportunity!
In exchange for your support, Elliot and I have put together a list of fun rewards. This includes postcards from Steamboat Springs, bags of our favorite local coffee, all the way up to symphony tickets or a family photo shoot.
