Bridget Pendleton's brain surgery
Donation protected
Some of you may have heard about my sweet friend, Bridget. She’s struggled with what she described as these awful “migraines” for as long as I can remember and as long as she can remember as well. Over the last year, they have increased causing her to black out, have vomiting spells, and lose sensation and strength in her hands and feet that is progressing with time. She was finally diagnosed with Chiari Malformation 1 after an MRI on November 11, meaning that the cerebellar tonsils in her brain are descending and causing an obstruction in the pathway of fluid to her spinal cord. Chiari Malformation is a rare condition that acts like a large brain tumor. This was caught just in time before symptoms could increase to more chronic pain and debilitating symptoms or paralysis. Due to this, she will be having a brain procedure which is scheduled for January 21st. The descended areas will be shaved down and a “small” part of her skull will be permanently removed to allow more room. The deductible for her procedure is $7,882 that has to be came up with in order for her insurance to pick up 80% of the rest of the cost due to everything being re-set with the new year. That does not include, any medicine, co pay, or the leave her and her parents will have to take during her recovery, which could be anywhere from 1-3 months. I am so excited and grateful that she was blessed with such a great neuro team at a Memorial Herman that are going to take such good care of my Bridgey boo. She is the most kind hearted, thoughtful, and sefless person that I have ever had the pleasure of knowing, and, of course, has insisted on asking for nothing more than prayers and kind thoughts/words during this time, but any little bit will help the Pendletons out so much! For my sweet, sweet friend, Bridget, I am asking my Facebook friends for any small gestures y’all wouldn’t mind donating. However, in lieu of the holiday season, I completely understand if some of y’all aren’t able to do so. With that being said, I still ask that all of you keep her in your thoughts and prayers, and continue to lift her up with words of encouragement.
