Bridger’s Journey

This year has brought more challenges and emotions than  our family ever could have imagined — but also more faith, strength, and love than we ever knew possible.

In April, after countless tests and more than 100 consecutive hours at Cook Children's, doctors finally found the answer to what was causing sweet Bridger’s seizures. Following an EEG and two MRIs, we learned that he has a tumor-like growth of cells in his brain called a Hamartoma — the cause of his diagnosis of Focal Epilepsy.

We were beyond thankful to hear that the tumor was not cancerous, and we praised Jesus for that blessing. Still, because of the Hamartoma, Bridger’s epilepsy is something he won’t simply outgrow. His doctors explained that we were going to try and manage it with medicine, but it would be a lifelong condition requiring close monitoring, medication, and ongoing care.

Over the past few months that followed, Bridger continued to face daily seizures. His little body tried and failed four different anti-seizure medications, each bringing its own side effects — upset stomach, fatigue, temperament changes, and more.

Now, they have come to the next step in his healing journey. Bridger will be undergoing brain surgery to destroy the tumor that has been the source of his seizures. The will be traveling to Houston the week of Thanksgiving for more in-depth imaging, with surgery scheduled for December 4th. Afterward, Bridger will remain in Houston for several days as he recovers and is closely monitored by his medical team.

We are all praying for complete healing — for God to guide the surgeons’ hands with precision, to protect Bridger through every step, and to bless him with a swift, full recovery.

This journey has been filled with uncertainty and fear, but also with hope, miracles, and the unwavering love of those who’ve surrounded us with prayers and support. Every message and comment, every prayer, every act of kindness has meant more than they can express.
