A New Reality: Supporting Brian's Battle with CIDP
Our lives have been turned upside down. My life partner, Brian, has been diagnosed with a rare and debilitating neurological disorder called Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP). It's a condition that has progressively weakened his body, leaving him unable to walk or even use his hands.
Before this, Brian was a house painter by trade. He was also a talented artist, a musician who found peace in playing his guitar, and someone who loved to draw and paint. But CIDP has taken these joys from him. He is no longer able to hold a pencil, a paintbrush, or even a guitar pick. The loss of his ability to walk, write, and create has been devastating for him and for our entire family.
Through all of this, our son, Osiris, has been an absolute hero. He has stepped up in every possible way, helping with Brian's care and providing what he can to keep us afloat. But a burden this heavy is simply too much for one person to carry. On top of everything, I am finding it incredibly difficult to keep up with my own work while also caring for Brian.
Even with Osiris's incredible support, we are quickly falling behind on our most basic needs. While we are grateful to receive $55 a month in food stamps, it's just not enough to cover all of our expenses.
The good news is that we have a fighting chance. Brian has started IVIG treatment, which we hope will significantly improve his condition. If we can just make it through the next six months, we believe we will be on the road to recovery. We've also received a promising update from the Social Security Administration, and we have a date to start receiving help in January of 2026. This fundraiser is meant to be a bridge, a way for us to survive until that help arrives.
We are reaching out to our community, friends, and family for support. The money we raise will be used to cover:
Essential Bills: We need help with rent and utility bills to keep a roof over our heads.
Groceries: Funds will go directly toward buying food and other basic necessities.
Medical Costs: While insurance helps, there are still co-pays and other related expenses for his treatments and physical therapy.
Your support, no matter the amount, will give us the stability we desperately need right now. It will allow us to focus on Brian’s health and give him the best chance at recovery, without the constant stress of wondering how we will pay our bills.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness and generosity during this challenging time.
