Description: In June, I was given just two days to live. Two months and three surgeries later, including an extreme open-heart procedure where an LVAD pump was surgically attached to my heart, I am still here and fighting. The pump, which is powered by an electronic controller and two large batteries that I wear at all times, provides much of the circulation I need to survive. However, it is not a permanent solution—it's a bridge to a heart transplant, keeping me alive until a donor becomes available.
Now, I need to undergo a full week of assessment testing and medical consultations at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville to qualify for the transplant list. My wife and I will need to stay close to the clinic, and the costs for lodging, meals, transportation, and unexpected expenses are far beyond what we can manage on our paycheck-to-paycheck budget. This week of assessment is just the first step in a much bigger process, but it is absolutely necessary to even be considered for a transplant.
Any support you can offer will go directly toward our lodging, food, transportation, and any other expenses that may arise during this critical week. Your generosity will help us focus on my health and the transplant process without the added stress of financial strain. We are deeply grateful for any help, encouragement, or shares—your support truly means the world to us as we take this next step toward a life-saving transplant.
