We are the Global Language Bridge Foundation (GLB), a small Spanish NGO that brings free English classes into existing Bengali schools and orphanages in Bangladesh. We don’t build new schools or replace local teachers; we focus only on English and work inside structures that already exist, so we strengthen what our Bengali partners are doing instead of duplicating it.

Two years ago, we started with one classroom in an orphanage in Cox’s Bazar, in partnership with Bidyanondo Foundation. After spending a month travelling across Bangladesh with Bidyanondo, visiting their different sites, listening to teachers and students, and learning what children really needed from English classes. From that first orphanage, our project grew step by step.

Today, our team of 12 volunteer teachers reaches around 400 children in four different Bidyanondo schools, and we are exploring collaborations with other Bengali NGOs that share our vision of free, quality education for children from low‑income communities. All our classes are bilingual (English and Bengali), interactive, and adapted to the level of the students, so they can build confidence, speak up, and really use the language in their lives.

We believe, like Amartya Sen, that development is about freedom: the real freedom to choose your path in life, to study, to work, and to imagine a different future. Language is one of the keys to that freedom. English, in particular, opens doors to scholarships, higher education, jobs, and information that would otherwise stay closed. By empowering children through English, we are not just teaching grammar; we are expanding the choices they have for their lives.

Until now, everything has been run entirely by volunteers. But as the project has grown from about 100 children to roughly 400, we have reached a point where we need a basic, stable budget to keep going. We are currently in the process of officially registering GLB Foundation and, at the same time, we need to fund one local coordinator in Bangladesh who can manage the classes on the ground: talking with schools, organising schedules, supporting our 12 volunteers, and tracking attendance and progress.

We are pausing classes during Ramadan, and we want to use this time to secure the funds we need so that we can restart right after Ramadan without interruption.

Cover the legal and administrative costs of registering the NGO and staying compliant. (200€)

Pay one monthly salary for a local coordinator in Bangladesh for 12 months. (250€ X 12 months)

Cover minimal operational costs (internet, communication, basic learning materials) so classes can run smoothly. (300€)
