Help Chris Cook Through His MS Treatment
Chris has been living with multiple sclerosis since he was 24. Through all of it, he has continued doing the things that matter most to him: working as a teacher, coaching baseball, and spending time with his kids and grandkids.
Next month, he will begin an investigational treatment for MS. It’s an opportunity he’s hopeful about, but unfortunately, it will require him to continue intermittently missing work. After several unexpected health issues over the past few months, he has already depleted much of his sick leave. With short-term disability able to cover very little of his regular income, the continued time away from work will mean a significant loss of income.
Last week, Chris was also diagnosed with Graves’ disease, which has significantly worsened some of the physical limitations he already lives with because of MS. He is still learning what that may mean going forward. He may need additional assistive devices, lifts, and other equipment to help him safely navigate daily life and continue doing the things that are important to him.
Chris has always worked hard to provide for himself and his family, even as MS has made that increasingly difficult. This fundraiser is simply meant to help bridge the loss of income he is facing and help with equipment and other needs that may arise as he adjusts to these changes.
Any contribution will help make the months ahead a little more manageable. Sharing this fundraiser is also greatly appreciated.
