Bridge Sean's Path to Wellness and Employment

Hi, my name is Sean. I'm a tech worker who was laid off last October. I had a stroke months before, which I was still recovering from. Since then, I have kept my head above water with some limited support, unemployment, and eventually freelance work. While it was enough to pay the bills, it couldn’t afford much more, including health insurance, which I had to cancel in February. I was lucky to have a stockpile of insulin to help with my type 2 diabetes and I had prescriptions for my blood pressure medication. I ran out of both my insulin and prescriptions in August.

I started to feel ill around the end of September and after a trip for a job interview, I fell into a coma due to diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) and pneumonia luckily family a friends did a wellness check and got me to the hospital in time. I was not expected to come out of the coma but a week later I woke up and a week after that I came home. I’ve been working to recover, which will take some time, and I will probably have some lingering effects like my writing hand currently has limited use.

I could not do freelance work or look for full time employment during September. I’m currently getting back to looking not only for a full-time job but also freelance projects but it’s a bit difficult in the current situation which is why I’m finally swallowing my pride and setting up this GoFundMe to humbly request help bridging this period until I’m back on my feet. November and December are always bad months to look for work, but this year has been especially hard for those in the tech industry.

I’m setting the donation goal at $4,000 with the hope this will help me with my core bills until I can get enough freelance work to take care of things or find a full-time job.
