Colorado Movement Lab (CML) was founded in the summer of 2023 to change the way dancers are trained. Our new facility, scheduled to complete buildout in early 2024, will house three state-of-the-art dance studios complete with excellent sprung flooring, two wellness rooms (offering Amino Acid Therapy, Performance Coaching & Hypnosis, Feldenkrais, Physical Therapy, Chiropractic & Fascial Distortion, and Massage Therapy), one studio outfitted with bone-conduction dance floor to best serve individuals with hearing impairments and special needs, Pilates equipment, and a performance space outfitted with professional lighting.
CML is a body-safe, no-judgement environment led by the promotion of vulnerability, authenticity, and unencumbered creativity. At CML dance merges with body science, art, and the potentiality of movement. We believe that dance is not only an important art form, but a profound expression of human creativity, physicality, and self-acceptance. With superb training in dance modalities (including classical ballet, modern, jazz, contemporary, and experimental movement forms), kinesthetic expertise, individualized attention, and a spirit of invention, we create an environment where innovation and tradition harmoniously coexist to help embolden the artists of the future.
This fundraiser will support the buildout of CML's new space in Westminster, CO. The founders of CML have also founded a new non-profit organization, New Paradigm Dance Theater, which will serve the community through performances, educational programs, and scholarships for those who cannot afford tuition. Supporting CML's buildout costs will ultimately lay the foundation for two fledgling organizations to prosper in Westminster, Colorado.
Our goal is to raise $75,000. Here are some of the things this will support:
- $25K - ROSCO dance subfloor (thanks to our friends at Wonderbound for donating 1,000sf of responsibly used ROSCO subfloor, which allowed us to save over 25K on this purchase)
- $3K - 18 Barres
- $2K - Sound equipment for 3 studios
- $15K - Lighting equipment for our in-house performance space
- $3K - Curtains for light control and wings in the studio theater space
- $10K - Telescopic bleacher seating
- $45K - General construction - framing, electrical, drywall, installation, permitting
- $10K - Decor and general start-of-business needs
Wait! These numbers are way higher than $75K! Yes, they are. We hope to raise this initial $75K to help with these costs, but your generosity will help us rely less on small business and personal loans. And...as with all new businesses and any kind of construction...we know these numbers are just the beginning. Thank you for supporting the foundation of these important new businesses.
Please note: your gift to CML is not tax deductible, but it is nevertheless helping to support incredible work in this community. We are so grateful for your generosity.
