On January 22nd, 2019 I was driven to the ER in Marietta, GA. I had been experiencing pain in my anal area for several years but I had recently in the last week or so leading up to the 22nd, had been experiencing extreme pain 24/7 that wouldn’t allow me to sit, sleep, or hardly walk.
After a close examination and some tests the doctors at the ER had determined that I had an abscess running from my anus through both buttcheeks. The doctors had proclaimed that this was the largest abscess they had ever seen, and to make matters worse it was deeply infected. They went on to tell me that I needed emergency surgery as soon as possible, that it was life threatening. My eyes had been opened, the severity of this problem had become very real. I stayed two additional nights at the ER.
The surgery went well, however, there was more to the problem that they could not fix in the initial surgery. My surgeon explained to me, as I ate a delicious cup of jello, that I had something called anal fistulas and that these had been present in my anal area for the past two years. This is what caused the deep infection. The surgeon went on to tell me that another surgery would be necessary to take out the fistulas. Yet, it wasn’t going to be an easy task. She explained to me that I was at risk of having Chrones Disease.
As fresh news came in, it seemed like things were only getting more complicated. I am still awaiting to hear if I do in fact have Chrones, for if I do the surgery I need will be more complex.
I know that some of these things might be “TMI” but I wanted to be as transparent as possible with what is happening. It’s been a aggravating and painful recovery already, and I can only imagine this is the beginning. I don’t ask for much, but I know several people had reached out to me about this unfortunate occurrence in my life, asking how they could help. At this point in time healing and recovery will come and go as new news comes in, but these medical bills will loom over me.
So, getting to the point, if there was any way to give financial help to pay off these medical bills I would be forever grateful. I appreciate any amount given and it will go straight to paying these bills. Thank you for your time and for reading.
