Briarwood Preserve tornado recovery effort

Please help us in raising much-needed funds to help the Briarwood Nature Preserve recover after being hit by a severe tornado. The Preserve, founded by Caroline Dormon and stewarded by 3 generations of the dedicated Johnson family, is a 501c3 non-profit that makes educational experiences in nature possible for underserved youth, Scouts, and families in an area of Louisiana where few such opportunities exist.

The Preserve and the integrity of the family stewarding it have been recognized through designations as a National Historic Place and as a forest included in the national Old-Growth Forest Network.

With a PhD in forest ecology and 20 years working in conservation, I've visited hundreds of forest and nature-education sites.. but I can personally attest that Briarwood Nature Preserve is an exceedingly special place that deserves every penny of support that you can afford to help their recovery. The stewards of this site work so hard, with only 2 people maintaining over 200 acres of native forest and educational gardens.. They do so very much, with very few resources. Let's band together and support them in their time of need- they deserve it.
