Brian's Memorial

As you all know the love of my life passed away Friday evening shortly after watching my son, who Brian considered his own, graduate Navy boot camp. Brian is and always will be a bright light in my life. Brian, as you all know, made everyone he came in contact with feel special or try to put a smile on your face with his silly sense of humor. He would engage everyone and anyone in conversation. I witnessed it many times that the people he engaged were smiling and laughing after he walked away. He had the ability to make people feel they have been friends forever. The love we had for each other and the memories I now have will carry me through the rest of my life. I always felt cherished and special in his eyes. I'm so grateful that I was able to experience a life with him regardless of the short 8 years we had.
A lot of you know Brian suffered a heart attack the summer of 2015. He had 2 stents put in, but nothing was wrong that would make us think what occurred Friday would ever happen. We were getting ready to take my son back to base when a sequence of events began that will alter all of our lives forever. Brian was cleaning off the snowy windshield when he started complaining he was having trouble breathing. He said I needed to drive which I proceeded to do. Brian kept getting worse, so I turned around and went back to the hotel. When I got him in the room he was struggling to the point that I called the front desk and the next thing I knew Paramedics were coming in the door. They jumped on the situation immediately. They were able to get him stable enough to take him to the hospital, but unfortunately by the time I arrived Brian was no longer with us.
My thoughts at the time were to get away from that town, so I did just that. Regrettably, I had to leave Brian in Illinois until I could make arrangements to get him back with me in Florida. That's what I'm in the process doing.
When Brian moved to Florida he had to change careers and decided to join me in the real estate business. When that didn't pan out like he wanted he changed course again to a job helping others by joining a subcontractor of FEMA doing disaster inspections. He finally found his calling. He was on cloud 9 knowing he was helping others in need. Shortly after his 2 short deployments Brian realized he needed more work and applied to work directly for FEMA . With the help of a special friend he was hired by FEMA and set to start training January 8th.
I set up this page to try to raise enough funds to bring Brian home from Illinois. I'm also working on setting up a remembrance to celebrate his life. If you feel compelled to help I would be very grateful.
