Brian's Cats' Vet Operation Costs
For those of you who know me, you probably know that I have two cats in my life. Voodoo, my best buddy for over 15 years now, and Gizmo, my favorite fluffy furf for almost 10 years. I've had them both since they were kittens, and they are both important loves in my life.
They are both elderly cats now, and even though they are usually very healthy, active, and happy kitties, they both recently came into some health issues. Voodoo had an ear infection, which was treated with drops, but that revealed that he has a small, benign (thank goodness) polyp growing in his left ear, which needs to be removed. I've already spent over $1000 getting him treatment & labwork done, but the removal surgery is going to cost another $2500.
As for Gizmo, just when Voodoo was being diagnosed, I noticed what looked like a swelling around one of his bottom right teeth. His vet didn't have an available appointment until next Friday, so I ended up taking him to a VCA vet emergency room a few days ago, to see if they could diagnose the issue and perhaps send him home with some medication. Well, it turns out that it's not a dental issue, but that he has a potentially cancerous growth forming in his mouth, which needs surgery to be removed and then a biopsy done. There's also apparently a murmur in his heart beat which requires an ultrasound being done before he can safely be anesthetized for the surgery. They gave me an invoice which estimated that the costs for his procedures would start anywhere from $3000-$4000.
Last November, I quit my previous 7-year career job at Media Temple to begin an online UX Design Bootcamp course at General Assembly, which starts on March 29th. Currently, I have no income, and have been living off of my savings and investments in the meantime. However, I currently have no viable means of covering the costs to pay for my cats' very pressing, immediate medical needs.
A good friend suggested that I start up a GoFundMe, to see if I can get assistance from my friends and family in my time of financial need. So that's what I'm doing with this fundraiser. If any of you are able to donate, anything helps, and you would have my everlasting gratitude.
All of our love,
Brian & Gizmo & Voodoo
