As you may know, our friend and cousin Brian Hoenig is being treated for the 4th time in 19 years for a new primary cancer. Thanks to your continued support, he is able to get the best of care at M.D. Anderson in Houston and has just finished 4 rounds of radiation therapy along with additional chemotherapy.
Soon after his return home today he will be getting Keytruda treatments for the next 1-2 years, with treatments every 3 weeks. Because of the costs he will not be returning to Houston but will do them locally in Orlando. At this time the insurance company has approved the treatment but Brian and Patty do not know how much the copays will be (They have been told the range is $25 - $925, let's hope for the $25).
And so, most of us know that insurance does not cover all the costs of a long term illness. There is ongoing speech therapy and tracheotomy care, a special nutritional supplement, etc. They have had 3 trips to Houston in the past month and insurance doesn't cover that.
- Brian and Patty are so very grateful for every prayer, good wish and continued support from their amazing friends, family and co-workers. The fact remains that the uncovered costs are many and add up quickly. Their focus should be on caring for Brian and helping him get better, not on financial issues. And so we ask again for help. You, his friends, family and co-workers, have shown your love and caring for Brian and Patty in the past. Let's team up and help them out this time so they can focus on a complete recovery.
