On February 20, 2021 Brianna went to the ER to address recurring numbness in her legs. She was told she had a tumor on her spine pressing on her spinal cord and would need emergency surgery the next morning to remove it. The tumor was biopsied and found to be a hemangioma, a benign bloody tumor. Unfortunately, as time passed and more scans were completed they found more of these tumors in other organs and areas of her body. With such a rare presentation and no diagnosis, much of Brianna’s medical care has been pain management and periodic scans to check for growing or new tumors. The tumor on her spine eventually started to grow back and at that time she went to Mayo Clinic in Florida. A specialist there was able to stop the growth of the tumor on her spine with a special type of radiation. However, this cannot be done on the multiple tumors and lesions remaining in her lungs, liver, spleen, skull, collarbone, and sternum. The ups and downs of hope followed by disappointing news have continued over several years while looking for any possible diagnosis and treatment plan. Many specialists continue to say “we’ve never seen this before” and “you have a very unique case.” She is currently trying a chemo medication that is a "shot in the dark," but we are hopeful that in those 3 months, we will see improvement!. On April 22, 2025 it was confirmed from an MRI that she has more tumors on her lower spine and they have now started 10 days of radiation to target this area. We would love to help her cover the cost of her medical expenses and show her our support! Brianna is one of a kind and not defined by her medical struggles but by her kindness, strength, and love for her family and friends. Thank you for supporting our fearless friend.
