Briana's fight for recovery

Donation protected
On May 29th, Briana (who just turned 22 on the 27th) was brought to the ER for what we thought was just a really bad upper respiratory infection but  she was having some trouble breathing. An hour later, her vitals became critical and her BP dropped. After several attempts to keep her stable, she was intubated and rushed to a different hospital for emergency open heart surgery where for 2 weeks she was on heart life support via an ecmo. Her heart condition was brought on by the Flu which had already been weakened from what they believe was broken heart syndrome from our mother passing two months prior.

During her heart recovery she developed Guillain Barre, which caused paralysis throughout her entire body. She has been through over 10 plasma transfusions which are slowly allowing her to be able to move her extremities but she is still unable to feel her arms or open her hands. Due to the paralysis, she is having extreme difficulty breathing, so they did a tracheostomy in order for her to be a little more comfortable.

Now, week 4, the hospital is discussing the possibility of moving her to a post acute care hospital where they can focus on her rehabilitation once her respiratory needs are more stable.

A month in the ICU and the medical bills continue to accrue and now we have no idea how much this specialty hospital is going to cost or if insurance is even going to cover any of it after she gets added to their waitlist. Briana has a long road to recovery ahead without the ability to work so our family is asking that if you can, please contribute to her fund so that she can focus on her rehabilitation without the stress of financial burden.
