Brian Washburn's Hospital Stay
Donation protected
Tuesday, March 9
Brian started experiencing a horrible headache and symptoms that he thought might have been consistent with a heart attack. We took him to St. David's in Austin and they got him right in and started running tests....turns out, they thought he was in the middle of a stroke. Fast forward to Thursday, March 11. Brian stayed 2 nights and 3 days in the hospital, numerous tests run (EKG, 2 CT scans, 2 MRIs, EEG, Echocardiogram, Covid test, 5 blood draws and more) and was finally sent home on Thursday afternoon with instructions to follow up with a primary care doctor. We don't have a clear answer as to what is going on, but we know that something isn't quite right and we will continue to seek answers. While we are grateful that his heart is in perfect condition and MRIs were clear, we still believe that he had a mini stroke and acting quickly helped in stopping it before it got any worse. Brian is to be on light duty until he follows up with a doctor. Luckily, I have Spring Break this coming week and will be able to get him a doctor appointment and hopefully get on the road to getting definite answers and a better understanding of what we are facing.
Please continue to keep us in your prayers as we continue to seek answers. We know that this is just the beginning of a very long journey. Time spent in the hospital is time lost at work, time lost at work for both of us is money not coming in, but the bills of home and now medical bills will continue to come and add up. The next few weeks are going to be tough and we covet your prayers.
We are hoping to move closer to family, to have easier access to help with animals, kids and just general care of each other when the other isn't available.
We aren't asking for a hand out....Brian is adamant that we aren't treated as a charity case, but I know the bills that we are facing are going to make difficult times even more difficult and the stress that will be added won't help in Brian's recovery and getting answers. Prayers for us as we walk through this valley are appreciated and if you are able to help monetarily, that is also greatly appreciated.
These are not situations we can ever be fully prepared for and they certainly make you think of how to be better prepared in the future. Thank you for your consideration, prayers and continued love and support.

Nikki Washburn
