Brian Teale

On Friday May 27, 2022, Brian Teale, a life long climber was in an accident while working for his own company Crystal Creek Carpentry. He suffered a traumatic head injury as well as numerous broken bones after taking a fall from scaffolding in the town of Valdez, Alaska. BT was put on the life flight to the ICU at Providence, Anchorage, where we waited for him to regain consciousness. After the MRI showed that BT had extensive brain damage and would never be able to enjoy his outdoor life again, Charla Teale and his friends followed his wishes to take him off of life support. Brian died in the hospital On June 8th. When we started this campaign, we hoped to raise large amounts of money to support his road to recovery. At this time, the money raised will be used to commemorate his life. We will hold a celebration for his life on September 17th in Valdez, Alaska. Some of the funds will be spent on digitalization of his old media. We hope to make a presentation of the pioneers of ice climbing for the Valdez museum. Brian Teale is a legend of a climber, snowboarder, boater, and community man. He has a long history of first ascents in Colorado and Alaska and is especially well known for his ice climbing achievements in Valdez. He is best known for his genuine personality, commitment to hard work and love for true adventures in Alaska. This picture was taken after a typical workday when he stopped by to check out the boaters. Mike Hamilton outfitted him and we convinced him to join us. After a great lap on the river he said, “I’ve still got it!” A total bad-ass and sweetheart. If you met Brian Teale, you liked him. He has been a mentor and friend to so many of us. I would like to thank everyone who donated and be open to suggestions on how to best preserve Brian Teale’s legacy with the money raised. Thank you, Kirsten Kremer, long time friend of this incredibly special person.
