Chef Brian Needs Our Help
Many of you know Brian as the outgoing friendly, Chef Brian. You may not know that he has Stage 4 Neuroendocrine Cancer. Last week they discovered additional tumors and he needs to go in for emergency surgery in a few days. He and his wife Pamela, need our help to get through this.
In 2012 Brian left his position as a nationally recognized R&D Chef to care for his Mother with advanced dementia. Pamela and Brian provided almost 24 hour care for the next 7 years. They unfortunately lost their home in Bangor to foreclosure while caring for his Mother. A year before she passed Brian was diagnosed with a rare form of Neuroendocrine cancer. He underwent emergency surgery to remove a tumor blocking his intestines. 3 months later he had additional surgery to remove more tumors. It was determined that the cancer had metastasized to other organs and was now stage 4, Incurable, and Inoperable.
Brian attempted to return to work twice, but was unable to continue due to the symptoms. Brian is now on medical disability. Due to the seriousness of the claim, it went through in only 34 days. This diagnosis requires treatment every 28 days for the rest of his life. Pamela and Brian cared for Josephine for over a year following diagnosis. Though he has not been able to continue working, he created and administers the very popular “Quarantine Kitchen” and volunteers with a non-profit providing food packages to fellow cancer patients.
Now the cancer has returned, and there is a tumor pressing on his bladder. He needs to have immediate surgery. This will require major recovery time. Pamela is awaiting and requires a much needed surgery on her foot and can't work.
They are in urgent need of help with medical bills, utility bills, legal costs, vehicle repair, and heat for the winter. Winter is fast approaching! Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Every dollar counts! These are hard times in the best of circumstances. Add in a cancer diagnosis and things become beyond difficult. Through all of this, Brian has not lost his great sense of humor and positive attitude. Let's show them how much we care!
