Brian Robinson Family Fund –
Saturday, October 20, 2018 was supposed to be a day like any other beautiful fall day in New England. It was supposed to be a day spent with two of his sons getting ready for hunting season. But it wasn’t like any other day. Instead, it was the day that our dear friend Brian Robinson had a severe stroke and was air lifted to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
Brian is family man through and through. He married his high school sweetheart, Becky, in 1985 and they have five amazing children. Jonathan (and his wife Sarah); Twins Geni (and her husband Fred) and Keith (and his wife Erica); Danny (and his partner Sam); and Angela (a teenager just entering high school). A grandfather to three boys and girl. Brian is also my husband’s best friend and “brother” since middle school, he was the best man at our wedding, and an uncle to our children. He is the one we all call when we need a hand. Actually, he’s the man many call when they need a hand.
Brian works an independent contractor running his own business installing cabling for IT and telephone systems throughout New Hampshire, Maine, Northern Massachusetts and Vermont. He has probably run several million miles of cable throughout his career. He is the reason many businesses can send email, call customers or ring up a transaction. In some way, he has connected us all.
Brian’s stroke initially left him completely paralyzed on the left side, blind in his left eye and unable to swallow or talk. He has made a lot of progress and is able to swallow and talk. He is starting to get some movement back in his left arm and leg, but it is not independent movement. He still has a long way to go. Brian will have months and months of therapy and when he goes home will need continued care, therapy and renovations to his home. His challenges are great and the work is hard. A lefty by nature, he now needs to also learn how to be right handed. He has said he wouldn’t wish this on his worst enemy.
Like most small business owners, he does not have disability insurance. The loss of Brian’s income, months of rehab and medical bills, and expected refitting of his house so that he may return home is why I set up this page for Brian and his family. The family is already hurting financially from the loss of income and increased travel costs to visit Brian. Most families today need two incomes to survive, and this family is no different.
No donation is too small!
On behalf of the family, THANK YOU for your consideration, generosity, support and prayers.
