On Thursday morning Ginger found her son, Brian, unresponsive. She performed CPR and tried to bring him back but it was too late. Brian passed away peacefully in his sleep. I am setting this account up to help with some of Brian's final expenses.
Ginger wanted me to share a tiny bit of Brian's story:
Ginger went into Labor at only 23 weeks and was life-flighted from State College to Hershey, where she had an emergency C-section. Brian was born weighing only 1lb. 7oz. The doctors did not expect him to live through the night but he did. Then a week went by and Brian was baptized at the hospital. Doctors did not expect him to hold on much longer but, after being in the hospital for three months, Brian went home with doctors saying he wouldn't make it to see his second birthday. In the first few years of his life, he had many challenges and too many surgeries to count. He also had many hospital stays over the years. Brian had cerebral palsy, a seizure disorder, a trach and g- tube. He didn’t walk or talk but did say the most meaningful word ever, "mom". He lived a life of 21 years surrounded by his family and their love, with Ginger and Wallace being his primary caregivers for the past few years. He grew up with pony rides and loved to be in the pool. He loved music and would often "sing" with his Mom. Ginger would tell him corny jokes, and he always had a big smile on his face despite his disabilities. Brian had a huge personality and touched every person who met him. He was a kind, affectionate, loving soul and had the best sense of humor. Brian always had amazing nurses who loved him dearly. He lived in Pennsylvania until age 8, then moved to Virginia with his family, where he resided for 15 years before moving to West Virginia in 2018. He attended N-Rep school until the 9th grade, but he could no longer attend due to health reasons and graduated early with an Honorary High School Diploma. Brian’s favorite movies were Cars and Finding Nemo and he loved watching reruns of Friends and South Park. He loved animals, especially Dogs and Horses and they were always drawn to him.
Ginger & Wallace got married in the midst of the pandemic and since Brian was at high risk he could not attend the wedding, but he was in the house overlooking the festivities.
As you can imagine, Ginger and the rest of Brian's family are devasted. There is not much anyone can do to ease the pain of losing someone, especially a child. The only thing I can think of is to set up this account to help pay for Brian's services as one less thing for them to deal with.
For anyone that would like to let Ginger & family know you're thinking about them, their address is:
520 Green Oak Lane
Berkeley Springs, WV 25411
Brian's services are under the care of Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home in Berkeley Springs.
Rest in peace Brian, I bet your Grammy and great-granny greeted you with open arms in Heaven.
