Brian and Michelle have a long road to recovery after a horrific accident on Saturday, June 24th. They are currently stabilized in Abbotsford Hospital being cared for as they both have suffered broken backs after falling 40ft. off of a cliff. They reside in Prince George with their 6 children that they are unable to care for right now. The injuries they suffered were debilitating. They both suffered broken vertebrae, Michelle has a broken arm, hip and ribs. Brian has suffered a fracture to the skull, has a broken pelvis and broken ribs. We are hoping friends, family and community can come together to help eliviate some of the financial stress that they now bear with their current situation.
Michelle and Brian went up towards Harrison BC with some friends for a night of camping while traveling down to Abbotsford . They found a beautiful camp site, went for a swim and all seemed like it was going to be an amazing weekend. Around 11:30 sat night Brian and Michelle went to go to the washroom in the bush, it was dark and they both fell off a 40+ foot cliff. Their friends heard them screaming and rushed over to see where they were and after almost falling off themselves, realised they fell really far. Their friends knew there was a bear in the area and could hear it after Brian and Michelle stopped yelling. They loaded the shotgun with slugs and went to find them. When they got to them they realised it was a lot worse than they had thought. One of Brian and Michelle's friends stayed behind with a shotgun for protection from the bear and the other loaded up Michelle's two boys and went to get help. He was able to use the sos in his truck to get emergency services to Brian and Michelle's location. He went to meet them and returned to the campsite. The paramedics came down to check and quickly realised that they were not trained to deal with bears. They left Brian, Michelle and their friends in the bush alone and went back to wait for the police to arrive and keep an eye on the boys. After 45 min the police arrived and escorted the other paramedics down to the accident site with weapons in case the bear attacked. The paremedics helped stabilize Brian and Michelle until search and rescue showed up. Thank you sar for your good work rescuing Brian and Michelle.
