In early April Brian was continuing day to day at his best as he normally does, enjoying his time with family, being outdoors, and at the racetrack. A little over a week later, he found he could no longer walk and was struggling with a lot of pain in his back and legs. He was taken to Aultman Hospital where they treated him for pain but struggled to find the underlying problem; therefore, a week later, he was transported to Columbus where he was immediately checked into The James Cancer Center at Ohio State. With multiple tests being taken, followed by various procedures and multiple MRIs, the doctors were able to confirm in early May that Brian had Stage Four Kidney Cancer
. The cancer started out in the bones (which left him unable to walk) and had metastasized to the Kidneys, Lungs, and even a couple spots on the brain. With being at Stage Four, the Cancer is not curable, but Ohio State is looking at various treatments to help prevent the Cancer from growing and continuing throughout his body. Brian's wife, Theresa Kintz, and sons (Blake and Ben), have been by his side since the beginning and have given up work, sleep, and other obligations to support their father/husband. Brian has been in the hospital for a month now and has been on bed rest ever since. Due to his stay, various operations, treatments, and multiple tests that have occurred, the family is struggling emotionally and financially due to these high costs. With being away from work yet attempting to provide for our family and even hotel costs to support Brian, we are asking for any support that family and friends are able to provide. It has been a very tough time for all of us and we only pray that each day gets better. Being as humble as he is, all Brian asks is that he is able to walk again and return to his family. The last thing we want to have to worry about is how we are going to afford all of this. We cannot thank everyone enough for the prayers that have gotten him this far, and we appreciate any donations we can receive to help us afford the hospital costs and treatments as well! God Bless.
