Brian & Kelley Clements

It’s been a week since the series of tornados hit Canton Tx on Saturday April 29th.  There was a total of 7 tornados, some ranked as high as a F4, that rolled through Henderson and Van Zandt county causing devasting destruction in their path.    As so many others, I am searching for a way that I can help and I felt that I could be most effective picking a family to sponsor.  My company, Service First Mortgage, is also anxious to help so we have joined up to help Brian and Kelley Clements.   Brian and I actually went to school together so we go way back.   He and his wife both work in local school districts, Brian as the Vice Principal of Wills Point High School and Kelley an Ag teacher in Grand Saline.   They are hard-working people & have dedicated their adult lives to serving children. 

They were both at home Saturday night when the storms rolled in.   They were aware that there were Tornado warnings in effect and reports of sightings.    It was apparent that one of the twisters was heading right towards them so they found the safest place in their home, their hallway, and laid down together on the floor.    They were hit directly and their entire house was literally blown away from around them and eventually they were both blown about 30 feet from the house in different directions and conscious the entire time.   As quickly as it came, it was gone.   They stood up to find each other both relatively unharmed –mostly scraped and bruised.   Kelley had bruised ribs & some serious gashes and eventually had surgery to repair tendons in her hand.  It’s incredible that they survived when all the weight of an ENTIRE house was irrelevant as it blew away in the wind but their bodies were deposited not far from where the house once stood.  There were objects thrown 250 feet way.  They walked away.   It’s nothing short of a miracle.
