Brian & Jacque Rebuild
Donation protected
Brian, a retired firefighter, and Jacque, a hospice nurse, lost a level of their home to flooding on April 11th. During a period of heavy, heavy rain, Brian and Jacque awoke to the sound of running water. What they thought was just a running toilet was actually water and sewage from their street, backing up into their house and pouring from their toilet and sink.
Over the course of several hours, water continued to pour in, leaving them to scramble and attempt to save anything of value as the freezing water rose above their knees. In the blink of an eye, they watched their newly finished basement and hard-earned possessions sink into the dirty water that continued to flood. The safe haven they had meticulously built together was no longer there, leaving them few pieces of clothing and shoes - their bed, washing machines, and even furnace were ruined as a result.
Their city's sewage and water provider has denied responsibility, deeming it "an act of God." Their homeowner's insurance policy protects them from flooding, but the amount they were given covers less than a third of the total cost to remediate. This "Act of God" has forced them and their two kids to live on top of each other and consider selling their home in an effort to resume a semblance of the life they shared before.
Brian and Jacque would do anything for anyone. They've spent their careers helping people and are the definition of altruism. They never ask for anything in return, which is why their group of friends is starting this fundraiser. We're asking for help to raise money to help them rebuild their basement and get a little bit closer to the life they had and the home they built before this awful thing happened.
